SWMS: Risk and hazard Control Procedures for High Risk Construction Work
Dangerous construction work refers to construction work which involves a risk of an individual falling over 2 or 3 meters, work that is carried out on a telecommunication tower, or work that is associated with the destruction of an element of a load-bearing structure or related to the physical integrity of the structure. Other high-risk construction work involves being carried out in or near a confined space, using of explosives, Being exposed to fuel or chemicals or any area that may have a flammable or contaminated atmosphere, and risk of drowning. Fundamentally, high risk construction work does not present the workers a safe working environment. It involves a worker involved in deadly situations.
Some examples of high-risk construction work are dealing with asbestos, concrete pumps and placement booms, cranes, confined spaces, excavations, mobile plant, rigging, as well as scaffolding.
