The Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre was the venue of the swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming events during the Sydney 200 Olympic and Paralympic Game. It continues to host international, national, state and community competitions.
During the school holidays we run a variety of activities designed to keep the kids occupied including classes, games, water playground, water slide and rapid river ride.
I used to go here when I was in my late teens (when they first built the aquatic centre) and in my early 20s. It's got a great kids section for anyone that has children, two olympic size pools, I loved the rapid river ride and the big inflatable obstacle raft they had out. It was just a really fun place to be with your friends in the Summer.
I expected an olympic-sized pool with serious goggle-clad swimmers doing laps, but I'd heard from a couple of mum friends how great the facility is for kids. I came here a week ago with a few girlfriends and our 13-14 month old toddlers after some beach plans fell through because of the crummy weather. Four days later, I was back. Needless to say, the toddler (and I) enjoyed it that much. There is an olympic-sized pool, of course. Two, in fact. One is reserved for competitions, and the other for doing laps / training. There is also a diving pool (boring), a spa (reserved for members), and -- this is where it gets exciting -- a water playground and a rapid river ride. The water playground is pretty spectacular, with a number of water slides, buckets that fill up and tip over -- including one giant one. There are plenty of shallow bits suitable for toddlers and babies, and some slightly deeper areas for the older kids. There are lots of fun water fountains and jets, read more
What a fantastic place! The kids pools look state of the art and there were kids of all ages having a great time! There are buckets that fill up with water and the kids squeal with delight when it tips water on them (you'll have to see it to know what I mean). There is a water slide for the bigger kids (and some adults too). There are lap pools for more serious swimmers too. Cafe has a nice outlook over the kids pool so even spectators can take in the fun!
