Nice atmosphere but the service has gone down
My wife and i had lunch there, Both had plain snitzle and chips.
We both asked for gravey which to our knolage was a standard condiment with chicken schnitzels
We were told they didnt do it as they only make there products from scratch
We were verry upset to here that the restraunt doesnt do stsndard stuff
Big letdown and service needs an upgrade
It's places like The East Pantry that bring struggling shopping strips back to life. Centerway was becoming a ghost town until the owner and his team threw their heart and soul into this restaraunt. The food is great, coffee - sensational, and not forgetting the tempting array of Brunnetti cakes. It's a testament to the owners that they would invest in this little hamlet and the neighbours are showing their appreciation in droves. Only downside - it's so popular sometimes it's hard to find a car park.
How do they do it? This small shop - wow, no more. This was a small shop but the owner and his folk look after their guests so well that it has grown and grown. Service would leave many a five star restaurant to shame. Coffee and food quality cannot be faulted. Ambience is rather nice, indeed far better than when the shop first opened. In short, there is no better cafe/ eatery in all of Avondale? Heights/ East Keilor.
Update to my 5 star review below .
After being a regular breakfast customer of 4 years and waiting for the renovations to fishish whilst leaving good reviews b4 and after the renos over various websites sadly my partner and I won't be returning to our favourite cafe The East Pantry . The male owner was fantastic and always looked after us but unfortunately the female owner has the worst rude customer service skills I have ever experienced in my life and unfortunately the male owner was not there when I experienced this on a Friday night ( last night ) or I'm sure I would not have had such a horrible experience . I won't go into detail because I like male the owner . Surely she would know exactly what this is about and how rude she was . Try to avoid the her if u go here . I still can't criticise the breakfast or male owner . I did not want ...read more
My partner and I come here regularly for brunch or an early breakfast on a Sunday. It is always quality food and generous sized meals at a great price. They are usually quite full there so it may be best to book a table although there is a sign up that they are expanding into the space next door. Only downside is that you wont find any fancy bread here , well I haven't yet It's usually sourdough which is lovely. The coffee and chai's are delicious too. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and always goes out of his way to have a chat with the customers. I would recommend this place, prefer to go there than trouble myself finding a car park on Keilor Rd. #reviewtowin
