Waited a long time to be seated even longer queuing up to order meal and drinks, when my meal arrived ( salt & pepper squid ) the squid was well over cooked and the chips looked a few days old and were stone cold not worth the money, the reason I think everything takes so long is lack of staff only 3 people to seat customers, take orders food and drink serve meals and clear tables obviously management has not got a clue how to run this place or they simply don't care about customers, would not eat there again.
Omg. Never had worse service. Waited two hours for meal and nothing in the hot servers!!!. People walking out and they didn't seem to care. If you want a night out and on a diet, go to this place. It certainly helps with your diet. You do not get fed for hours. Oh and drinks.... wait at the bar and pot luck if you either get ignored or served.....People all around us were not happy and by they time they got their meal, they ate and ran, as fast as they could. They were ignored by staff when they complain about the wait time. Staff attitude is to say nothing and walk away. Never in my life have I ever seen this service.
We came for dinner on Friday, 16th December 2016, for a mate's birthday. 3 couples and 3 young kids. The adults ordered their meals at 7.45pm ( 3 steak meals, salmon, ceasar salad and calamari meals). Was told there was a 30 to 40min wait. At 9.15pm the meals started to arrive with the last one, the salad arriving at 9.25pm! Thank god they had a good kids area to keep the young ones occupied for the 2 and a bit hours for the adults to get their meals and eat them, seeing it was well and truly after their bed time by the time we were fed. It wasn't that busy! I've been to much busier nights at the Waterloo, Gepps Cross, Mawson Lakes and Para Hills Club/hotels without such a wait!!! We received no updates, not even an offer of a free drink while we waited. The meals were ok but nothing special. We will not waste our time returning again. Para Hills Club and other hotels are better value, without the wait!
After an almost disastrous visit previously I was hesitant to come back here, but am glad I did. Admittedly it was lunchtime and less busy than our previous visit, but certainly this time service was very fast and food very satisfactory - not super greasy, though the salad was nothing to get too excited about. Price was great for their lunchtime menu, and seating is ok. Staff friendly, I'll be back.
While Golden Grove is no longer the new residential development that it once was, there is still a decidedly 'new' feeling with this pub. It does not have the old style look about it that a lot of the older pubs have, but rather the new, modern, style. Okay, it is one of the ALH pubs, but it still has everything that you would expect from a suburban pub including a restaurant and pokies. However, what this pub brags about is that it is South Australia's largest screen in the beer garden, and I must say that when I saw it the screen was certainly quite big. The beer garden wasn't all that bad either, noting that much of the activity in the pub has since moved from the sports bar out here, While I am unlikely to travel out of my way just to have a beer here, I must say that I quite liked it.
