The hotel still has many elements of a traditional local pub, however has recently had a bit of a facelift. To the locals the Town Hall Hotel is better known as the “Townie”. With locals during the day and musos at night, its a great place to watch the street traffic go by.

The Towny, as it is known is located right next to Newtown train station. Its a dingy pub with a bad rep...somewhat unjustified now i might add. It has two levels, one sort of TAB, sports section - usually filled with workmen and once a month a lesbian open mic called "Chicks with picks....and a second level where they do quizz nights and where you can find the Bistro..
I have been to the Towny a number of times for food to ending a 'trashy' night out...which is what most people i know tend to do, ie. end the night out at the Towny (mostly before the lock out laws as more pubs are now open due to the over flow from the city)...Anyway, the food at the Towny is actually really good andread more
