Union Bank Wine Bar

Orange's wine and food hub

The UB philosophy is based on respect for local grape growers and winemakers, for the food and produce of the region, and for the local community and it's people. We celebrate good wine and food, honour the history and heritage of our venue, and provide a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere for our guests.

A beautiful old bank converted into a bar, dining room & beer garden, it has character, great atmosphere, a fantastic, large selection of wine (lots of local), cocktails, share plates & delicious mains. The food is fantastic - loved starting a relaxing afternoon with wine, live music & the delicious beer battered dory sliders. The pork belly is so tender & flavoursome. Duck tostadas are super crispy with shredded confit duck. Then there is the duck ragout gnocchi - pillowy gnocchi, beautifully cooked duck, just perfect. The highlight for me is the lamv rump - souvide then roasted, its so tender, juicy & flavoursome. Paired perfectly with black barley & vegetables, all grown & raised at a local vineyard 10 minutes away. What a fantastic initiative of paddock to plate! Add to that great hospitality & you have a winning formula for a perfect night.

It was time for lunch and we decided to go to Union Bank Wine Bar as one of my friends on this trip with me had been there before and recommended it. Union Bank Wine Bar has quite a big space – there is indoor and outdoor seating and there is also an outdoor open space with no seating. The ambience was lovely and the staff were nice and friendly. We tried a couple of dishes from the menu to share amongst ourselves and pretty much all were very yummy besides the chicken korma, that was the least we enjoyed. All in all a nice lunch out at a nice eatery.

Bit disappointed . Went with high expectations but the place is under new management and has declined. No tap beer. Basically pub food with no specials or much choice. No table service. Wait staff took us to the table, threw three menus down for 10 people and told us to order at the bar. Took ages for my food, and two courses arrived together. By the time I finished kitchen had closed for dessert. The food was cooked well, but the dining experience was chaotic.

The menu is varied and they have an extensive wine cellar. The mezze plate was ample for 3 as a tasting plate while deciding on orders. A little more lavash or bread would have been appreciated. When asked for some we were told that we would have to pay for it. Overall the food was fresh and tasty. The room separated by the outdoor area has tables with white linen. There are bare wooden tables and stools in the bar area. Ambience excellent. Good place to catch up with friends.
