I had an old BMW which experienced a total failure of the clutch slave cylinder recently. Got it there and it was seen immediately, a replacement ordered (3 days from melbourne). They locked the vehicle up in the shed, had it back on the road as promised, keep in touch - we hired a car to continue the trip. Labour cost $100. BMW part was the usual rip off! In summary, good people and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you Les, John and Fran.

Called for a quote to replace clutch (I supply clutch/plate and thrust race) labor and materials only, $800 labor + plus oil & machine fly wheel around $1000 quoted, Called Newcastle Gearbox and Clutch, $695 including oil & Fly wheel.

After booking in for a free brake check (only for proximity to work) to check one issue, they came back with an overly hefty quote for new rear brake pads, to which they said I had none left in my current ones.

After having a service at my local trusted mechanic 2 months before, where they checked everything over, I took the car home, ripped the wheels off and checked them myself to see. About 50% left and no money spent. $350 for 2 pads and labour? Pads are $80 max and take half an hour to change both.

Moral of the story, watch out cos they'll try get you for things they think you know nothing about, and 2 - stick with my local trusted mechanic, even if it is the opposite direction for work. can't trust many people these days!

I turned up unannounced this afternoon with a front end problem. Within 10 minutes I had two experienced tradesmen checking my motorhome over the pits and test driving until they found the problem. Unbelievable service great men and one happy customer!
