Virgin Active aims to help members live happily ever active. Their health clubs are world class with facilities including swimming pools, spas and saunas, large spacious workout areas and heaps of the very latest equipment. There are also hundreds of group exercise classes every week in various styles.
I joined specifically to go to classes, as advised on my initial tour of the club. There are never any spots in any of the classes I am able to attend, I complained about this multiple times to the staff there and was always assured more classes were coming - they didn't. I went to cancel and was advised I have to pay the cancellation fee as well as another direct debit. They advised they are too big to cater for individual members needs, but not big enough to waive fee's when they did not hold up their end of the contract. If you want to actually be helped on your fitness journey, and not just be another face in the crowd, this is definitely not the gym for you.
I don't generally like gyms, but the experience here is totally different. Everything just works. Good quality facialities and friendly helpfull staff. Yet have to experience the classes, but it seems there is heaps of choice. Lunchtime on weekdays can be hectic but outside of those hours is super relaxed. Swimming pool/sauna and change rooms are clean and generally not that busy. Yes, it is a bit more expensive than other places, but it is well worth it.
The best gym I have ever been a part of. But I do use the classes religiously and my friends and I use the other facilities like the pool, the spa and the sauna instead of going on coffee dates and it's the best. Really clean gyms and really nice and helpful instructors. I love the varieties of classes you get too! There is literally 6 .. if not more.. different yoga classes! It is quite steep in price compared to other gyms but provided you use all of the facilities and classes, it is definitely worth it!
