Customer service training is needed for your staff. The female staff member working in the nursury today has absolutely zero customer service skills. She made me feel like I was intruding by being there. When I asked for help she told me she would be with me shortly, even though she was doing nothing and then simply ignored me. Terrible experience and will spend my money else where. Given their location and the time we spent travelling to get there, you would hope that their customer service would be excellent. We took a 8x5 trailer to fill with plants for our new garden and had $1500 to spend. Went to Garden grove and spent our money there. Will never go to virginia nursery again.
I visited the nursery for the first time today to purchase a fair amount of hedging for our garden. Asked a blonde female working in the shrubs section for help and her customer service skills were non existent. Told me to wait whilst She finished talking, she was more interested in talking to a colleague than serving me. Horrible first experience, will never go back.
Very disappointed to travel 1 1/2 hours to Virginia Nursery for Hydrangeas. Thus common garden plant is in full bloom and I wanted to buy 10 to hedge them. Walked in and couldn’t find them anywhere. When I finally found someone to ask they told me No Hydrangeas. I advised I’d driven a long way and was told ‘No Hydrangeas you should have rung first’. This comment made me livid - is this not a Nursery? Should I ring first if I wanted Petunias or a plum tree? Very disappointed after $60 in fuel, and the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Didn’t give me any alternatives or let me know when they would be in - drove home with nothing. Couldn’t believe a Nursery wouldn’t have Hydrangeas and expected me to ring first !
We have only discovered the Virginia Nursery recently. Living on Yorke Peninsula makes it a day trip for us but let me tell you, it is just oh so worth the trouble. The size of the place is incredible to behold. A bit like the Vatican but designed by very talented people indeed. The staff are extremely helpful and with a smile. The range and quality of plants of all kinds is mind-boggling. We knew the Donchos café was there but being vegetarians never tried it until hunger struck us one day. The experience, the décor, the food and the friendly staff made for an utterly fantastic encounter. We have to add, that even the toilets are something else. They are classy, clean and a clear demonstration that a lot of thought was put into the whole Virginia Nursery complex. It is now a regular trip for us.
And no, we are not in any way connected with Virginia Nursery. It's just a great place that needs more people to know about it. :)

Easter Sunday and nothing much else for me to do so decided to join my parents at Virginia Nursery for a quick coffee and stroll through the Nursery having a chat. It was only my second time here today and I never realized how big it actually was, including their restaurant/eatery that they had. The menu looked quite good and my parents said the food here was pretty nice, so I will be coming back here with them one day to try :)
In regards to the plants, they have so many selections. I was looking around with dad and there was a plant in particular we were asking about to a staff member there, she was very helpful and friendly. Purchased a couple of items for the garden and upon payment found the staff members there lovely also. It's always good to come to place where customer service is great.
