I am new to the dog owner game and completely ignorant. I saw the positive comments for this vet when my poor (or should that be 'paw'?) German Coolie started limping and refused to use his front right foot. So I have just returned and can say I am very pleased by the service, their professionalism, care, patience and attention - and that was just to me.
They went the extra length with my dog and ensured he had to to adjust and to become comfortable before the examination. Fortunately it wasn't a big issue and they provided some free medication for me to use on him.
I didn't know what to expect the bill to be after hearing horror stories from pet owners, but they were quite reasonable priced with no nasty surprises.
I am very pleased with their service and feel the half hour drive from Chermside is worth it.
This was the first time my cat Lucy has been to this place & I can easily state that you will get complete care from Simon Wake, he accommodated Lucy on short notice & attended to her quickly, running tests, getting her fluids up, medicating her etc. Within 4 days, 3 nights he has prepared her to come home. Suffering Acute Kidney failure, he did an amazing job to get her back recovery. Each day we were able to visit Lucy & he also gave us regular calls to get us updates on her after hours. If you live on the Northside then this is the place for you. Thank you also to the support staff at Anzac Avenue Veterinary Surgery.
We have been going to this vet for over a year now. Our dog, Sam, has had atopic dermatitis for a few years now - it's like eczema for dogs. It was so bad that he was licking all the fur and the skin off his paws and they would be bleeding and raw. The vet we were seeing previously didn't seem to really care, and simply gave us steroid tablets. Simon is very different. He really seems to care about the dogs and takes the time to talk and answer any questions without making you feel like you're silly for asking! He has a kind, professional manner and has managed to create a treatment plan for Sam which is working wonders. Sam's has much better quality of life now, thanks to Simon! Keep up the good work!
I have been bringing my dog to Dr Simon for the last few months, he is gentle and caring and very modern. Simon has given us the best advice and has made a huge difference to our little dogs quality of life. His prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend this surgery to everyone living in this area. I have told friends of this nice young man and they now come to this surgery too. The staff are also wonderful and very helpful. Thankyou very much for your 5star care and proffesional friendly service.
I have been bringing my dog to this surgery for 8 years, but Simon Wake recently took over the business when the previous owner retired. We found a lump on my dog, Sandie (kelpie/cattle X) and she was checked out within days. Simon was very thorough in his investigation, subsequent surgery and follow up. He is a very gentle, caring vet who genuinely wants to do the best for your pets, and the cost of the surgery while high, was fair. The tumour was cancerous but I feel confident in following Simon's advice for continued treatment.
The other staff are also very caring and professional and I would recommend this vet to others who love their "fur people".
