Being just across the road from the Petersham Railway station makes this place very easy to get to, but then any pub near a railway station has that advantage. The West Village is sort of a classy craft beer bar, which is a little different since most craft beer bars that I know of tend to be in the hip space as opposed to the chic. Anyway, this place comes across more classier than I feel comfortable with, though it does have a pretty decent selection of beers on tap, which does change my feeling about it. However, I found the staff to be a little blunt and disinterested, probably because I don’t come across as classy as some of the other patrons do. As a pub it was okay, and it had a small courtyard, which was non-smoking as well. However, it isn’t one that I’d be rushing back to. However it does get points for having craft beers on tap.
Now called the West Village and recently renovated. Great fit-out and a nice place to have some drinks but they still have some teething problems in the kitchen. It was a busy Friday night but it took a very long time for our food to come out and 1/2 of my dish was served cold. Hopefully in a few more months things will run more smoothly of them.
Definately worth the price. Yes; the schnitzles are enormous & They taste nice! The drinks ARE over priced but the food is well worth it. I wouldnt recommend it to those who are health freaks coz it does strike ur mind of the appearance , but u cant eat 1 all on ur own... Its impossible. This is very good pub food!!
