We try to get out to Huskisson as often as possible from Nowra, because of the gorgeous views, sandy white beaches, and people watching opportunities! It’s a lovely place to visit. And every time we make the 30-40 minute trip, we always make a point to go to World Famous Fish n Chips! Their chilli squid is to die for, the sweet potato scallops are next level, and the fish is always fresh and delicious. They’re almost always busy so we expect longer wait times than at some other places, but with a view that spectacular, staff that are friendly and efficient, and food that is certainly worth the wait... we never mind! Pro tip: they seek out the freshest fish at the markets so whatever is on special is something they feel is worth trying - go for it!
The name World Famous Fish & Chips might give a sense that this place is more of a casual restaurant where you dine in, but it is actually quite opposite. The shops is more of a local fresh seafood shops with one section dedicated to selling cooked, ready-to-eat fish & chips and other things like seafood platter, plus a fridge for cold drinks.
We were there a few weekends back on a Saturday. The place was quite decent, but there were only limited seats available outdoors. There were not many customers there but it was still pretty busy. The staffs were courteous and prompt.
We did not get the cooked items, as we only craved for fresh oysters, where the suburb is highly known for. We had the extra-large oysters, something rarely seen in the usual Sydney food landscape or even supermarkets.
The oysters were fresh and were beautiful. We had whilst enjoying the sea view minutes from the shops.
World Famous -- you might be right there, but for all the WRONG reasons!
We gave them another shot a few weeks ago, after having to wait for over 45 minutes for our order - we arrived back at home (2 minutes away) to find we had stone cold food - disappointed would have been an understatement - especially with your pricing (and that wait)!
We will NEVER go back which is a shame as we only have 2 local fish shops - thankfully the other one is way better!
We were taken in by the sign and ordered 4 lots of barra/chips. Got back to the motel around the corner and the barra was dripping with oil and believe me, in a pool of the stuff. The chips were soggy and limp. We threw the chips out. I can make better chips than that. My local fish bloke has the best and isn't in a seaside town where one expects the best. Not found at Huskisson's World famous Fish and Chips. Give them a big miss.
