Sadly, we were not able to have a pie or sausage roll because they contain MSG. However, we were informed that they are working on removing this from their products.
We had to have an apple pie, which was not quite what we had hoped for as lunch, but it was nice enough.
How can you possibly drive home from the Gold Coast without a pit stop at Yatala Pies. It's practically un-Australian not to stop. Get yourself a steak, bacon and cheese pie with chips and gravy to eat in. Don't forget the family pie and apple turnover with cream for family dinner too.
Everytime I think about these pie I start drooling. No trip to the Gold Coast is ever complete without a quick detour of the motorway here. The pies are massive and there are plenty of options for fillings. My favourite is the chicken and vegetable which is always quality. If you still have room for dessert there a heaps of sweets on offer - I can't go past the caramel tart. The venue itself is often a little messy but there is a drive through option for takeaway. EFTPOS minimum is like $10 which is annoying although they do have an ATM there.
