The staff on the day of our visit were friendly and efficient. It wasnt overly busy but we had to wait longer than expected. The chargrilled chicken breast was very tasty, served on parsnip mash, and the fish and chips were ok. However the battered mushroom entree was soggy with cooking oil..not nice at all...lovely location...I would go back purely for the location on a nice day!
Dreadful service - worst ever. One main didn't arrive with the other 3 and we were asked if that person was not eating - told them we were waiting on a chicken foccacia. Waited 15 minutes then was told it would be out in 5 mins. Waited another 10 then told them to cancel it as the others had finished their meals. 2 people ordered coffee - were asked 15 mins later by another staff if we wanted to order coffee!!!! At this stage we then told staff about the main we never received and that we had almost given up on the coffee. This staff - unlike the one serving us, was very apologetic and gave us a discounted account for the meals - and they were only very average at that.
Ate from their takeaway side ('zootz 2go'), they've got a good range at reasonable prices, incl meal deals/snack packs. Had fish n chips, the chips were especially tasty & crunchy & a good amount for the price. Fish was good & ok priced. It did take a heck of a long time for them to cook though, esp as I was their only customer??
Lovely idea and location however the experience was quite different! Booked for an anniversary lunch and after being promised that we'd be looked after we were seated in full sun on a 35 degree day, despite other shaded tables being available - they were being held for walk-ins! Service was shocking, had to remind about drink orders multiple times and sat for 30 minutes with finished plates on out table while staff walked past, empty-handed, at least every minute. Food was OK, side order of vegetables came out with the dish 3/4 full of butter - yuk! The final straw for us was the staff allowing a patron at the table next to us to put her dog on the table and give it a drink out of the ash-tray! NEVER going there again!
Fantasitc place for a coffee and a cake on a Henley Winters day, (when no-one else is around). Summer time brings everyone else which adds to the atmosphere but takes away from the service which is frustrating but understandable. Recent dinner specials throughout the week make for some affordable and enjoyable selections.
