Dr. Boon Kua is a urologist in Brisbane, Queensland, specialising in prostate cancer. His main expertise is in robotic and laparoscopic (keyhole) prostate and kidney cancer surgery. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland. He did his urological training in Queensland and New South Wales and obtained his FRACS (Urology) in 2005.
Dr. Kua completed brachytherapy training at the Seattle Prostate Institute, Washington and is accredited to perform brachytherapy at The Wesley Hospital.
Dr. Kua attended the Seattle Prostate Institute, USA for his brachytherapy training and has since performed brachytherapy at the Wesley hospital. He has also been mentored in robotic radical prostatectomy and has attended a robotic training course at the Global Robotic Institute in Florida Hospital, USA prior to commencing robotic radical prostatectomy at the Wesley hospital.
Dr. Kua is a pioneer in laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (LRP) in Queensland. He was one of the first urologists in Queensland to have performed a laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. To date he has performed over 500 cases of laparoscopic, robotic and open prostate and kidney surgery.
