How many tap holes do I need in a Basin?
It depends on the tap-ware you choose. You will need 1 tap hole for mixer style tap-ware and 3 holes for a traditional 2 tap handles and 1 spout arrangement. Choose your tap-ware first and then select your basin.
When I order, do I have to pay for all my goods up front?
No, if don't have a trade account with us you still have the option to open a McCanns Prepaid Account. After paying an initial deposit into the account upon ordering the goods, you can then pay the goods off as you go. You are able to pick up goods to the value you have paid at any time and if you wish to pick up more then you simply make a payment to the value of the goods you require at the time. We accept cash, EFTPOS, direct debit and credit card (VISA and MasterCard) payments.
Can I order online?
Not yet. However, you can order over the phone at any one of our 9 stores, and we will deliver to anywhere in Australia. Delivery charges also apply.
What size spout do I need?
Once you have selected your tap-ware you need to choose your bath or basin ensuring that the lip is not too deep or shallow for the length of the spout - it must reach over the lip but not protrude out proportionally too far. The best option is to select these items together to ensure you have a good match.
Where do you deliver to?
We have regular delivery routes throughout areas of metropolitan Melbourne, Geelong and Victoria. If you need delivery outside our regular runs, we can send items anywhere in Australia via Australia Post or courier of your choice. Delivery charges apply.
What should I consider when planning my bathroom?
While a bathroom can be a beautiful place it must also be functional. You will require workspaces in your bathroom just like you do in the kitchen. How many people will be using the bathroom? You may need dual basins for bathrooms with lots of traffic. A combined a shower and bath area can save much needed space.
What do I need to consider when choosing between Mixer type or traditional handle and spout tap-ware options?
While it is largely personal taste, it is worth assessing some practical considerations, such as if water pressure is an issue in your area (ask your plumber), if you require or prefer tap-ware with water saving options - available in all types of tap-ware but some are more efficient than others - and if someone who uses the taps will require a high level of ease of use, for example children or the elderly.
Does the pump position of a spa bath matter?
Yes. You need to know the requirements of your specific bathroom layout in regard to the pump position options. Your builder or plumber will be the best person to advise you. You can then choose the spa that you like and the spa will be custom ordered to meet your needs. It is important to get this right as the manufacturers will not exchange or refund on an error in your order.
How much space will I need for items in my bathroom?
You will require minimum spaces around some items in your bathroom. 700mm either side of a toilet bowl and 600mm in front. At least 700mm is required between the front of a basin and an object or wall. Power points must be at least 500mm from splash zones. The minimum requirement for a shower recess is 900x900mm. Allow at least 1700x800m for a bath.
