How should I prepare my items before coating?
-All plastics, wiring, seals ( anything that will melt) must be removed. -Provide drainage holes in sealed hollow sections. -Tape any treads that you don’t want painted.
Is powder coating a protective coating?
No, it is a highly durable decorative finish. Corrosion protection can be provided by either chemical pre-treatment or Zinc rich and Epoxy powder primers. This preparation is provided prior to the application of the final colour.
What is powder coating?
Powder coating is a durable polyester decorative coating that is applied with an electrostatic gun. It is applied after preparation and pre-treatment to thickness of 50 to 80 microns. Once coated it is baked/cured in an oven at 200 degrees for approx. 20 minutes. Once cooled the finish is hard and ready for use.
