William Farmer Funeral Directors have been providing care to bereaved families in Central Victoria since the gold mining era. The business is locally owned and operated by Andrew and Heather Hampton.
In early 1873 Mr. William Farmer was a cabinetmaker who began manufacturing coffins for families, like many in this trade he chose to begin conducting funerals, and therefore William Farmer Funeral Directors was established. Today located in Bendigo and Eaglehawk, we are a locally owned and operated funeral home. Our team take great care in the way we look after families and believe it’s an honour and privilege to care for families. For almost 150 years we have been a trusted member of the Bendigo and surrounding community, and we continue to keep a tradition of personal, professional, and uncompromised funeral care.
Day and night attention every day of the year Trained staff to arrange funerals for city, country, interstate, or shipment overseas Staff and facilities to effect transfer from place of death as required Preparations carried out by qualified staff Liaise with funeral celebrants or clergy and co-ordinate funeral venue Arrange with crematorium or cemetery for reservation requirements Prepare and insert notices into the media options of your choice Contacting RSL, clubs, other organisations etc. regarding funeral participation Obtaining the relevant certificates from doctors or coroner Registering the death with Births Deaths & Marriages, who will then issue a Full Death Certificate Advice on the many aspects of funeral matters

When/how do I get a death certificate?
A 'death certificate' is issued by Births Deaths & Marriages approximately 4 - 6 weeks after the funeral. We submit all the application on your behalf.
What is the cost of a funeral?
As there are so many styles of funeral, there isn't an easy way to answer this question. We would encourage you to contact our team to gain a better understanding.
What do I need to do to arrange a funeral?

How soon should the funeral be?
There is no legal requirement to hold the funeral within a certain number of days of a death. It is always our advice to allow plenty of time. Many families put themselves under extra pressure in an attempt to have the funeral as quickly as possible.
Where are your chapels located?
We have two chapels. One located in McCrae Street, Bendigo and another in Victoria Street, Eaglehawk.
Can I arrange for my own funeral?
Yes, funerals can be pre-arranged &/or pre-paid in accordance with the Funerals (Pre-Paid Money) Act 1993.
