buyer beware...

LEASE BE AWARE THAT THE OWNER OF SUPERFORMANCE IS PUTTING HIS OWN REVIEWS UP OF HIS OWN BUSINESS IN AN OBVIOUS ATTEMPT TO BUMP MY REVIEW DOWN THE REVIEW LIST.

OTHER CUSTOMERS OF SUPERFORMANCE HAVE REACHED OUT TO ME TO SHARE THEIR STORIES OF BEING RIPPED OFF. MORE 1 STAR REVIEWS TO COME FOR SUPERFORMANCE.

DO NOT DEAL WITH SUPERFORMANCE IF YOU VALUE YOUR CAR AND WALLET!!!.

This review of Superformance is based on a truthful account of my dealings with the business over a 3 year period. My review is made with the defences of justification, truth and public interest in mind.

In 2021 I was looking for a company to complete a full rebuild of my small block chev motor. Superformance was selected to do the job based on their positive reviews and customer feedback.

In May 2021 I engaged Superformance to perform a full rebuild of my classic car’s motor. The rebuild was completed in July 2021. Immediately the motor commenced to leak oil from the rear main seal. The complete car went back to Superformance twice without remedy.

In May 2023, after only travelling 1800 miles, the motor suffered a break down with a knocking noise coming from the bottom of the motor.

I took the car to my mechanic who diagnosed all bearings in the motor had failed, the rear thrust bearing was worn out and the crank was floating front to back resulting in leaking oil from the rear main. Bearing metal had contaminated the entire motor. Further diagnosis was that the bearings had incorrect clearances set at motor assembly. The running faces on the crank were scored and every bearing heavily worn.

I contacted Superformance by email to get the motor rectified. I didn’t receive a response. I wrote again and got a reply to state that ‘ Superformance had changed ownership’. No remedy was offered.

I then engaged another motor builder who reported that the workmanship on the original superformance build was poor, incorrect bearing clearances resulted in oil starvation.

I lodged a complaint with MTAQ. It was only after the MTAQ accepted my complaint that Superformance engage with me. Superformance then wanted the motor back. That was something I wasn’t prepared to do due to what I alleged to be proven poor workmanship on their part in July 2021.

The workshop manager from Superformance made inquiries with my mechanic and the new builder of the motor. The MTAQ complaint failed to get a remedy.

I lodged a further complaint with Fair Trading Qld. The feedback from Fair Trading is Superformance failed to offer a remedy and claimed I have defamed them to MTAQ. Unfortunately for Superformance only the truth was complained to MTAQ.

My only option now is to list the matter in QCAT to recover the $9000 cost to repair the motor.

I am alleging that Superformance failed to abide by Australian Consumer Law and will

deny liability at every opportunity. Caveat emptor...

Addendum - so for posting this review management of Superformance have blocked me from their facebook page and the Rides Downunder workshop wars page. pathetic...
