How long does the process take, and why does it take so long?
A full design and construct project can take between four and six months from acceptance of a quote, to your electricity being energised at your property. Each project has ‘Hold Points’ that rely on responses from third parties such as councils, affected property owners and electricity utilities. The length of time a third party takes to respond depends on their work demands or the legislated timeframe over which we have no control.
What is the difference between Levels 1, 2 and 3?
An ASP Level 1 constructs and installs electricity distribution infrastructure. This includes laying and stringing electricity cables, erecting electricity poles, excavating underground cable trenches, high and low voltage line work, and installing transformers. An ASP Level 2 connects power between the electricity network and a person’s premises, by overhead wires or underground cables. An ASP Level 3 designs both overhead and underground electricity assets to meet a utility’s requirements.
What is an Authorised Service Provider (ASP)?
An ASP is a business accredited by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, Resources and Energy, and authorised to work on the electricity distribution network in NSW. Only businesses that meet a stringent criteria, and are highly trained and qualified will be accredited. There are three levels of accreditation (Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3) which can be held individually, or in any combination. Gosling Electrical holds accreditation in all 3 Levels.
