How can I ensure that I am cremated?

Advise family members or the executor of your will of your wishes. Or contact Pinegrove Funerals to prearrange your funeral wishes. A copy of your details may be given to family and /or the executor for safe keeping.

What happens to the ashes after the cremation?

All the ashes are processed and placed in a container and kept at the funeral home. The family is advised that the cremated remains are in our care. We inform the family of the choices available for placement of ashes in a memorial garden, or if preferred, the cremated remains may be placed in a suitable urn to be taken home.

When does the cremation take place?

Normally the cremation will take place shortly after the funeral is completed.

What happens to the jewellery?

Normally the jewellery will be given to the family for a keepsake. It is suggested that jewellery be removed, prior to the funeral taking place. If you wish them to stay on, the jewellery would melt down and become part of the cremated remains.

How soon after the cremation are the ashes ready?

The ashes are normally available within 48 hours - during weekdays. If requested, ashes may be returned to the family the day after the funeral.

Is only one coffin cremated or are several in together?

The cremator will only take one coffin at a time. When the cremation has taken place, the remains are removed (to be cooled) before the next coffin is placed in the cremator.

What happens to the cremated remains if we do not want them?

With the family's permission ashes may be scattered on your behalf in the memorial garden.

Can I prepay for a cremation?

Yes. Many people choose to prearrange and prepay for a cremation. The advantages are that you pay at today's costs and no increase is incurred.

Is the coffin cremated?

Yes. The coffin and contents are cremated; the only part removed from the coffin is the nameplate which follows the cremation process, to ensure that the ashes you receive are of that person.
