Full Dentures Full dentures are used when you need to replace all of your teeth, or just the upper or lower arch. At Kenyon-Smith Denture Clinic, we will create full dentures that are suited to your needs and lifestyle. Create a new, beautiful smile with the help of our denture experts.
Partial dentures replace some of the missing teeth in either the upper or lower arch of the mouth. A partial denture is sometimes required simply for appearance, more often a partial denture or dentures is required to improve chewing. If remaining teeth are left unsupported the teeth can drift sideways or over erupt. A partial denture can also be worn to support an opposing full denture.
Optimum tooth replacement may be achieved with dental implants and can be used in supporting full or partial dentures. Implant retained dentures offer stability and support for anchoring removable dentures, either full or partial. The denture stays firmly in place while chewing and conversing but can be removed for cleaning.

How often do dentures need to be replaced?
Generally every 6-8 years, and we recommend that you get them reviewed every 2 years.
Will dentures affect the way I eat?
There will be an adjustment period. You may have some difficulty at first, but you have spent a lifetime learning a particular way of eating. Learning to eat with dentures may take considerable time, as chewing efficiency is significantly less than your natural teeth. In addition, as dentures are not fixed, you will notice slight movements of your denture during chewing and eating, depending on the type of food consumed.
How do I clean my dentures?
To clean your dentures we recommend you brush them using a denture brush, soap and water. Do not use toothpaste as it will damage your dentures by scratching the surface. We also recommend soaking your denture in a high grade cleaning solution once a week. Make sure you try to clean your dentures after every meal and ensure you rinse your mouth and clean any permanent teeth with a toothbrush and toothpaste.
Should my dentures come out at night?
We always recommend you remove your denture overnight as it is a non-fixed and foreign object. This allows your gums and tissues to breathe and saliva to circulate.
Do I ever need to take my dentures out to clean them, if so, how often?
We recommend that you take your dentures out and clean them after you have eaten.
