The Tasmanian Planning Commission is an independent statutory body established under the Tasmanian Planning Commission Act 1997. The Act sets out the membership, roles and functions and other arrangements for the Commission. This includes the requirement that the Minister provide the Commission with a Ministerial Statement of Expectation and that it give the Minister an annual report each year.The Commission's roles include:considering amendments to the State Planning Provisions (SPPs)considering draft Local Provisions Schedules (LPSs)considering draft planning scheme amendments, and combined permitsreviewing reports on representations to draft management plansassessing projects of regional and State significancereporting on draft State Policies and Tasmanian Planning Policiesassessing draft planning directivesinquiring into the future use of public landmaking changes to planning schemes to give effect to Housing Land Supply Orders
