Dr Van Eijden specialises in Cataracts, Glaucoma, Oculoplastics, Paediatrics and Neuro - Ophthalmology
Dr Roy Van Eijden completed his medical degree in 2001 and was subsequently invited to specialise in ophthalmology at one of the biggest and most advanced eye centres in Europe. He completed his training at the Academic Hospital in Maastricht, the Netherlands, in 2008 and also achieved the prized European Board Registration in the same year.
He and his family moved to Australia on 2009 where he worked at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, and also taught registrar's locally. Bring your current glasses; a list of your current medications; a referral letter from your local doctor or optometrist if this has not already been sent; your Medicare, health fund and pension/concession card details.
Can I drive myself to my appointment?
No, your eyes will need to be dilated in order for the specialists to be able to assess your eyes. The drops used to dilate the eye can take approximately 2 hours to wear off and it is not safe to drive during this time. You should anticipate that your eyes will be dilated at every appointment. If you have driven to your appointment, it is important to let the staff know.
