The centre is child friendly with a children play area, age appropriate toys and DVDs available.
Family Relationship Centre opened in July 2007, and offers a range of services for families in the region in a welcoming and safe environment. The centre is an Australian government initiative, and is auspiced by Centacare, a Rockhampton Catholic Diocese community welfare agency.
As part of its services, the centre offers a dispute resolution service for separated couples who want to resolve parenting issues and make parenting plans without going to court. In addition to providing services to separated parents the centre also facilitates contact between grandparents and other extended family members.
The Australian Government funds a range of services to help separating or separated families resolve their disputes without going to court. These services assist families dealing with personal and family issues or issues relating to the care of children during family separation and divorce.
The Family Relationship Advice Line is a national telephone service established to assist families affected by relationship or separation issues. The Advice Line provides information on family relationship issues and advice on parenting arrangements after separation. It can also refer callers to local services that can provide assistance.
