FAQschevron down

If I go on holiday, will my house be looked after?

Each NVC Group village is a gated community. There are additional security measures to enhance the safety of your home during your absences. Any resident leaving the lifestyle village for a holiday or any extended period is requested to notify the Village Managers as a further precaution. One of the benefits of village living is that the maintenance of the grounds will continue regardless of whether you are there or not.

When are my friends and family allowed to visit?

Family and friends are encouraged to visit at their leisure.

Do I have any choice in the selection of finishes in my retirement housing?

If your retirement home is yet to be built or has not passed the critical stages of construction for the ordering of such things as electrical points, kitchen cupboards, tiling, paint colours, light fittings or carpets, a range of options are available for your selection, subject to cost adjustment where applicable.

What kind of role can my family in in my care?

NVC Group Ltd encourages family members to assist where they can.

No. All buildings in the village are covered by a comprehensive insurance policy which is paid for from Weekly Fees. You will, however, need your own Contents Insurance.

Can my pet come to with me?

Pets are welcome at some NVC Group Villages. We must give written approval in each instance; however this is not to be unreasonably withheld.

Why do I get a ‘Lease for Life’ rather than a Strata Title?

Strata Title legislation vests the ultimate control of the village property in the hands of the Council of Owners, it is more difficult to assure village residents that the comprehensive terms of our Village Scheme can be maintained for the long term under Strata Title than it is with ‘Lease for Life’ secured by the provisions of the Retirement Villages Act (1992). Your ‘Lease for Life’ entitlement to your home at an NVC Group village also entitles you to ongoing benefits of the Village Scheme.

Is there somewhere I can store my caravan or boat?

There is limited additional storage on site, but these are subject to availability.

Will I need to be transferred if my care needs change?

We support ‘ageing in place’. The level of care provided can be adjusted if your care needs change. Decisions about where you will live within your facility of choice will prioritise your wellbeing, protection & safety and take into account our ability to provide you with the best possible care. You will not be required to move out of your chosen home but you may possibly be asked to move rooms if it is assessed that this is necessary for your wellbeing & for you to receive quality care.

How much are the weekly fees?

Weekly Fees are calculated with affordability in mind and residents who may be living on a Single Aged Pension. The Weekly Fees pay for expenses including insurances of village buildings and other risks, public lighting, security costs and all other village operating costs such as management and staff, gardening and other village services. Weekly Fees are budgeted on an annual basis by management and reviewed by residents. Resident accounts for Weekly Fees are rendered calendar monthly.

Do I have to sell my home when I move into aged care?

When you move into care you will be asked to pay for your accommodation as either a refundable lump sum (refundable accommodation deposit – RAD) or a daily “rental” payment (daily accommodation payment – DAP). Some residents may choose to sell their home to make these payments. Other residents may choose to keep their home so that other family members can live there or so they can earn rental income. The choice is up to you. You are not forced to sell your home.
