My husband and I visited the Southern Highlands to attend Calm Birth Classes and chose this Motel as it was close by. Prices are advertised as $140+ and when I called to book, I was told that the only difference between $140 rooms and $180 rooms was that the $180 rooms had spas. Im not interested in spas so I opted for the lower priced room.

When we arrived we were taken aback at how different our room (number 52) looked from the pictures we had seen advertised on your website. Our room looked old and soiled. We felt it was too late to find anywhere else on a Saturday night so we decided to stay. Later that night when we went to bed, we both became extremely itchy. To the point where I have scabbing all over my legs because I scratched the skin so hard. It was late by this point and no other places were open, there was no one in the office so we had to drive 1 hour home at 11.30 at night. We called the next day to explain what happened and were basically told that we cant prove anything and we were absolutely not getting a refund despite the fact that the RSL would have video footage of us leaving that night. My husband was obviously frustrated at the fact that we paid for a bed for the night and they couldnt provide us with a clean, sanitary one that wasnt riddled with mites or bed bugs. We had to leave and spend an extra $40 on petrol going home and coming back again the next day, not to mention the bother of doing so late at night and it made us extremely tired for our birth classes. The manager actually laughed in my husbands face and was completely unsympathetic and rude. My husband asked to speak to the owner and the manager flat out refused to give us his contact details. He then called the police on my husband (who was not acting in a threatening manner what-so-ever) because he didnt want to deal with the issue. We will be taking things further with Fair Trading and the Department of Health.
