      We specialise in buying antiques, art and collectables of all descriptions.

      We offer a complete service. It's easy, we come to you! We assess and appraise all manner of antiques and old wares. Peter Jenkinson started trading as Fountain Antiques in 1974 at Belair Road, Hawthorn, South Australia. We now operate an online store at jenkinsonantiques.com.au.

      Changing times have meant that we have replaced the on the street antique shop with an online one. Over 35 years of trading and considerable experience in the general antique trade has meant that Peter now operates a knowledge based business rather than a workshop based one. Customers are, however, able to visit the premises in Parkside (strictly by appointment only) in order to view antiques they may be interested to purchase.

      We produce high quality brochures that describe specific objects in some detail, so that clients may have a comprehensive document that fills the gap in their knowledge. For example, a recent commission was to produce a document that described the Prince Alfred College cast iron fountain and outlined the history of the firm Handyside & Co who made it in circa 1875.

      Do you do valuations for family division?

      If you are selling some item and the family are taking some others we will give you an estimation of the value of the goods being distributed amongst family members.


      Is there any cost for your services?

      There is no cost and no obligation at all. We are grateful for the opportunity to purchase all antiques and old wares.


      When could you do this estimation for me?

      We come to you as soon as possible, at a time that suits us both.


      How do you pay?

      We pay in cash, cheque or bank transfer.


      How do I dispose of surplus household contents?

      We specialise in buying all antiques and old wares, so if you have these, please call us on 0419 611 511. We don't buy modern furniture and effects.


      Do you work weekends?

      Yes sometimes but only by prior arrangement.


      Do you take items in any condition?

      Yes we will but we prefer quality items in good condition. That said, we will look at items that require restoration provided that they are of suitable quality.


      If you are unable to buy these items, will you be able to suggest someone else who can?

      Yes, we are always happy to help and our many years of experience guide us to help you.


      Do you call at the home?
