FAQschevron down

What are the costs involved?

Costs vary; vehicle weighing starts from $200, and comprehensive setups from $325.

What happens if my load is too heavy?

Depending on the weighing results/outcomes we provide our customers with the available recommended options to rectify any exceeded limits. We provide extra time for payload/equipment to be removed or redistributed throughout the setup and be re-weighed to check the results.

What is (GCM) (ATM)?

GCM is the industry wide acronym used to describe Gross Combination Mass. This is a figure supplied by a vehicle manufacturer to set a maximum allowable weight limit for a vehicle towing a trailer. It is the total weight of the vehicle and the trailer combined.

Access is difficult. How do we get around that?

If the customer does not have a suitable location for the service at their home address we can make arrangements to meet somewhere suitable close by. We often use car park facilities available to the public at shopping, industrial, sporting complex areas etc.

What is Tow Ball loading?

Often referred to as Tow Ball Mass (TBM) This is the weight measured at a trailer coupling by our dedicated tow ball mass scale. This weight is transferred to the tow vehicle when the trailer is attached. Most vehicle and trailer manufactures have a maximum allowable limit that must be adhered to.

How long does it take to weigh a vehicle?

Time required for each and every weigh can vary depending on the results and the customers requirements. Our tow vehicle and caravan combination weigh typically takes approximately 90 minutes. Our consultation allows for minimum 2hrs on-site. (More time can be spent if required.)

What is tow-bar and coupling capacity?

Vehicle and tow bar manufacturers have maximum allowable mass ratings for towbars and couplings. These must not be exceeded. The limits for these are often stated in the vehicle owners manual or on the actual tow bar/coupling itself.

How accurate is mobile vehicle weighing?

We use the latest industry leading weighing equipment. It operates wirelessly and all equipment is accurate to within 1kg. Our equipment is serviced and calibrated at a maximum of 12 month intervals.
