Large & Small Animal Medicine & Surgery

General Info

Dentistry including equine services. Mobile service available.

Kuranda Vet Surgery is located at Kuranda 15mins from Smithfield and 25mins from Mareeba along the Kennedy highway. We are a mixed practice providing all medical, pathology, and diagnostic and surgical services for small, large, birds, hobby farm, wildlife and exotic animals.

Microchipping involves the insertion of a needle under the skin between the shoulder blades. A sterile microchip is deposited there and it remains in place for the life of the animal. As a direct result of people having their pet's microchipped, we have been able to return many lost pets to their owners and if found injured can help to commence treatment straight away.

How does dental health affect my pet?

Dental health significantly impacts your pet’s overall well-being. Regular dental care prevents issues like gum disease, tooth decay, and bad breath. We advise regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings to maintain optimal oral health.

When can I enroll my puppy in training?

Enrolling your puppy in training is essential for their development. We recommend starting puppy training as early as 8 to 12 weeks of age. Socialization, basic commands, and positive reinforcement techniques are crucial during this stage.

Is grain-free food good for my pet?

While grain-free diets gained popularity, recent studies suggest a potential link between grain-free food and heart disease in dogs. Consult our veterinarians to determine the best diet for your pet’s specific needs.
