Support Service for Forgotten Australians

General Info

Open Place is a support and advocacy service for Forgotten Australians, provided by Relationships Australia Victoria. We coordinate and provide direct assistance to people who grew up in Victorian orphanages and homes prior to 1990. Our service aims to be accessible, welcoming and open to new ideas.

Open Place has been providing specialised, state-wide support, advocacy and direct assistance to Victorian Forgotten Australians since 2010. We aim to help people who identify as Forgotten Australians, or Pre-1990 Care Leavers, to deal with the legacy of your childhood experiences and provide support to improve your health and wellbeing. Our services are funded by the Victorian Government Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and the Australian Government Department of Social Services. Since July 2020, Relationships Australia Victoria has been the provider of Open Place.
