Healthcare from your Pets point of view!

We know as pet owners you want a trusted, caring and committed veterinary team that strives for excellence in every aspect of your pet’s care. Pet Universe have been Telstra Small Business Finalists in SA in 2013 & 2015 as well as proud recipients of the coveted Australian Veterinary Associations Practice of Excellence Award for 2015.

Our motto is healthcare from your pet's point of view. Is your pet perpetually fearful of visits to the vets? If so why not book a fear-free visit which can be made by special appointment. We use thunder-jackets, clipnosis, pet-calming music, warm towels & much more to calm your pet. Cats are pets too! We recognise that felines have their own special needs so we have implemented a number of cat-friendly measures to satisfy the exacting standards of the International Society of Feline Medicine and hold gold accreditation as a Cat Friendly Practice. And to help you settle your pets into Pet Universe we offer complimentary New Pet Health Check and Happy Visits for puppies and kittens designed to give both you and your pet a warm welcome to our Pet Universe.

Healthcare is forever changing with new and improved ways of delivering therapeutic solutions to enhance your pet’s health. Stem cell therapy for degenerative joint diseases and continuous rateinfusion ketamine/lignocaine pain relief drips (used intra-operatively) are just two examples of how we keep abreast of the times. Pets can also expect to receive many of the sophisticated life saving or enhancing procedures that we humans now take for granted. Ultrasound, digital X-ray, ECG & the latest anaesthetics equipment means we can perform the most complex surgeries. Skin grafts, &fracture pinning & platings are an everyday occurrence. We even have patient's doing well on chemotherapy. Our latest service is now delivered by the Adelaide Canine Rehabilitation Centre, run by Dr Chris Lee who is a qualified Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner. The Centre is based at our Northgate practice which offers advanced orthopedics, regenerative medicine and a number of rehab modalities such as underwater treadmill, laser, TENS, physio, ultrasound and more.

At Pet Universe all our staff are trained to personally greet every pet & their owners by name. After you've both been checked in & weighed you will have a full 20 minutes standard consult with one of our veterinarians. This long appointment gives you ample time to discuss all your pet's health & behaviour issues & we can answer all your questions on any procedures your pet needs. We also offer annual wellness packages with monthly payment plans, acupuncture, ,puppy preschool, kitten kindy, and retail a range of pet products and premium foods. Pets can get sick at the most inconvenient times so for easy access to our healthcare team we are open 7 days including Sundays at Pet Universe Broadview.

How do I know which breed or species is best for me?

It is important to take into account your lifestyle, family situation, income etc. before you decide on a pet that is suitable for you. Our friendly staff is happy to discuss this with you to assist you in making a decision that is not only right for you, but also for your prospective new family member.

What is included in your Desexing Prices?

Prices include a pre anaesthetic blood test to check for underlying risk factors prior to surgery, intravenous fluids, and blood pressure monitoring during surgery by a surgical nurse. We also perform a pre surgical check up to determine your pets health prior to general anaesthesia. Patients are provided with pain relief during and after and 2 post operative checks are offered as part of our standard service - one - 2 - 3 days after surgery and one 10 - 14 days later sutures are removed.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes, it is always preferable to make an appointment, so that the Vet can spend the optimum amount of time to determine the best care for your pet. Our standard consultation time is 20 minutes, which is longer than most other Veterinary practices. Of course, emergencies will always take priority, but we do ask that you give us a call to advise us of the nature of the emergency and the approximate time of arrival, so that we can be fully prepared when you get to us.

Are you open on Weekends?

Yes, our Broadview clinic is open from 9am until 1pm on Saturdays, and from 10am until 5pm on Sundays. Our Northgate clinic is open from 9am until 5pm on Saturdays. We offer these opening hours to provide maximum flexibility for all of our clients as we know how busy our lives are these days!

Do you offer Boarding services?

Yes, our Club Cat has 20 luxury condos. Condos have 3 levels including a hammock tier. All have a roam-alone hatch which can be opened up for access to the adjacent condo to create a "penthouse"(double condos). Ideal for a family (2 or 3) of cats across two adjacent condos. Play sessions can be scheduled for all our feline residents who would like to stretch and sunbake in our outdoor palm garden & cat gym. All condos are serviced twice daily and our nursing staff can administer medications.

Do you offer grooming services?

Yes, we offer grooming services at both our clinics in our Dog Spa - Wednesdays and Fridays at our Broadview clinic and Tuesday and Saturdays at our Northgate clinic. Bookings are essential. We can accommodate most breed clips, and also offer cat health grooms.

Our dog cut her face when she ripped our roller door off the rails. She could of nearly lost her vision from the cut but Chris and the staff at Pet universe saved her vision and patched her up. She's happy again

My brother in law has been doing pet therapy at Milpara nursing home at Rostrevor where his father Rowley Prentice has been a resident for 3 1/2 years. Geoff's eldest dog Gypsy was getting old and slow, Gypsy, is A Rhodesian Ridgeback aged 12yrs and 7 months she was unable to continue with the pet therapy due to mobility issues. After a heavy knock at the park she was taken to Pet Universe where Dr Chris Lee investigated, after extensive tests she was given a course of arthritis injections along with medication. The good news is just last week Geoff was preparing to take his younger dog Miranda to the nursing home when Gypsy got up barked picked up their lead from the table dropped it at Geoff's feet went over to Miranda barked at her then returned to Geoff. As soon as he put the lead on she took herself out to the garage and went to the nursing home where she spent almost 2hrs bringing joy to the residents. She now is able to get in and out of the car without any assistance and all her for legged friends and most of her 2 legged friends have noticed a huge improvement in her..

My dog was a very sick little animal when we first went to see Dr Chris Lee. Previous vets had missed the real problems but Chris got to the bottom of the issues and has sorted themALL out. Both Chris and his staff give the very best attention and treatment - I feel we get as good treatment from this clinic for my dog as I get from my own doctor!!! Lauren, the customer relations person is caring and concerned - taking time to discuss things with me (and to give Tinks the odd treat along the way!) All the nurses and the other vets are equally attentive and I can truly recommend this practice as being excellent in diagnosis, treatment and on-going care - I do not think I would still have my girl if it had not been for this group.
