I have a puncture, what should I do?
A puncture in your tyre can lead to rapid tyre deflation, so it is important to have a punctured tyre inspected as soon as possible to make sure you avoid permanent wheel damage. The first thing to do when you have a punctured tyre is to change that tyre for your spare. It is critically important to organise for the punctured tyre to be repaired as soon as possible.
How does uneven tread occur?
As tyres are made up of many components, the causes for tyre wear can be due to many different reasons ie: cracking between tread, lug base cracking, shoulder wear, sidewall damage, tyre abrasion, diagonal wear, centre wear, flat spot. Ask our specialists.
What pressure should my tyres be?
For everyday motoring, tyre pressure should never be lower than the manufacturers recommended pressure. This information is usually mounted on the driver's door edge or pillar, or in the glove box. Tyre pressure should only be checked when the tyres are cold. If you have to check the tyres when they are hot, add at least 2psi or (13.8kpa) to maintain optimal levels for safety. A good quality tyre pressure gauge allows you to check tyre pressure before driving on the tyres.
When do I need new tyres?
It's important that you are familiar with tyre wear and damage. Tyres support nearly every function of your cars motion, like road handling, braking and steering - so it is vital that you are sure your tyres are in top-notch condition for the road.
Do I need a new battery?
On average a car battery will last between 3 to 4 years. Once a battery has started to fail it rarely responds to recharging, usually due to the positive plate of the battery self-destructing, resulting in no plate left to hold a charge that starts your vehicle.
What is nitrogen and benefits of it?
Peter Walton offers a Nitrogen inflation service because we recognise that there are a large number of benefits for filling your tyres with Nitrogen including: Saving your tyres, Cooler running temperatures, slower rate of pressure loss, improved tread life, fewer blowouts, friendlier to our environment, less wastage.
Why is my steering shaking?
The most common cause of steering wheel shake is your wheel balance, so it is important to have this checked as soon as possible, besides causing annoying steering wheel vibrations, seat vibrations & increased fuel consumption, improperly balanced wheels reduce road holding ability & also increase wear of shock absorbers, struts, suspension and chassis components.
