      Katoomba Tyre Service was established as Yale Remoulds on 17/9/1930 by Donald Adamson. Originally located in Katoomba Street, it was relocated to the current Cascade Street premises on 1/7/1937 after being purchased by William and Alfred Graham. Katoomba Tyre Service as it is now known, has been owned and operated by the Fitz family since being purchased by William (“Bill”) Fitz on 24 July 1967.

      When Bill retired in 1982 ownership passed to his son John who continued operations until his retirement in 2004. John’s son Stephen continued the family tradition until his sudden passing in 2018, and now his son Jonathon continues operating the family business. In 1996 Katoomba Tyre Service purchased an adjoining property, a former printing works destroyed by fire and is planning to expand the business operations. Katoomba Tyre Service now employs 5 people in its retail store, continuing to offer personalised service to its many loyal customers.

      Extremely friendly and helpful!

      Had a nightmare start to the day yesterday. Blew a tyre on a trailer full of green waste on the highway just outside of Katoomba hospital. Luckily my workmate who owns the trailer was just around the corner. We took the completely destroyed tyre to Katoomba Tyre Service and organised to have it done by 1pm.



      After a couple of minutes thinking how we would plan the rest of our work day, it became apparent that if we could get it done straight away it would save A LOT of hassle. I went back in and explained that it was sitting on the highway and offered some extra cash to get it done right away. The response was a resounding "why didn't you tell me?!" and a refusal to take any extra money. The new tyre was on the wheel and in our hands within a few minutes and we could get on with the very disrupted day with a minimal of hassle.



      Can't recommend highly enough. The friendly, humorous and speedy service was absolutely outstanding. Will definitely be back to replace the other tyre before it too does the same thing!
