What’s the difference between a Psychologist and a Clinical Psychologist?

A Clinical Psychologist has an additional post graduate qualification.

How much does it cost?

Our current fee for a 50 minute session is $190.00. (The current fee recommended by the peak professional body Australian Psychology Society is $280.00.) With a referral from your GP, the cost of your session will be offset by the Medicare Rebate which is currently $131.65. So your out of pocket payment for a single session will be $58.35.

How many sessions can I have with a Medicare Rebate?

Up to ten sessions per year attract the Medicare Rebate.

Can I get a Medicare Rebate?

With a valid referral from you GP, you can receive the Medicare Rebate.

Do I have to have a referral to see the Clinical Psychologist?

You can receive our services as a Private Patient. In this case, there is no Medicare Rebate. You can check with your health fund to see if they provide cover for psychological services.

What can I expect from a session?

You talk through your concerns, receive advice, support and professional guidance for moving forward.

How do I get a referral from my GP?

You will need to see your GP face to face. Your GP will assess your mental health, and lodge your Mental Health Care Plan with Medicare. The GP will then send your Referral to us. Your initial referral will usually cover you for six sessions. After that, you can see your GP for a Review for more sessions if needed.
