The charge for the eye examination left a significant gap following the Medicare rebate so I would advise you check around with other optometrists.
Also, at very short notice I was called away to Sydney and wished to pay the significant cost by bank transfer, I explained that this type of payment had been accepted that day by a specialist dental clinic, a windscreen repairer and a vet surgery, however, my request was denied..only a credit card would do. I found the Bigland and Cowley response to be unnecessary, inflexible, and discourteous.
I do not recommend them.

Had a rushed 20 minute appointment, first time eye appointment. Sold me
an expensive pair of multifocals which only covered short distances, but told it would do it all, short and long vision.... as I had both short and long vision impairment, when I struggled with them, I returned and asked for a review and was told it was me, not the glasses that needed to adjust???? Really???? What a joke! Went to another optometrist, got adjusted an prescription, had the glasses from Mr Bigland analysed, and have had to have the lens replaced as they only covered part of my vision impairment. Rang to register my dissapointent and told my glasses came with a warranty..... for manufacturing faults only.... not for doing their job incorrectly. Never going back, needless to say.

Every 2 years I make an appointment at Bigland and Cowley to have my eyes checked for glaucoma, macular degeneration and my vision in general. They are always very professional and the staff are very helpful. I have had new frames on two occasions and have been able to use my existing frames at other times. Great service and that is why I keep going back. Jenny S.

As we have just moved to the blue mountains we needed to find a local optometrist.
I had the misfortune of selecting Bigland and Crowley.
There was a $79 charge for the consultation, I have had my eyes checked every couple of yrs since I was 16 ( now over $50) and there has never been a charge.
When I asked the woman at reception why there was a charge she explained that's just how it was now.
There charge was $79 and I got $28 back from Medicare
I then had an average and rushed consultation and was told I had to come back in 4 weeks for the rest of the tests, again I have never had a half test before ( all previous eye checks have been at least an hour long while this rushed one was under 30 min)
I explained that I worked in the city and it was very hard for me to come back. I was advised they were too busy today I imagine more to do with another consultation fee.
The 1st thing the woman at the reception said when I came out was 'ok then we need to pick a new pair of frames for you' I never asked for any frames and they saw that I had 2 perfectly good pairs with me.
I think that Bigland and Cowley are all about sales and up selling and not much else , very disappointed and no service received .... left there very upset for and will not be going back !
