I have heard a noise from somewhere or a light has come on to my dash?
Don't ignore anything! Call us, it may be minor but it may be an early warning sign that something is wrong and requires attention. Early detection of a problem will save you money and prevent further issues and the car possibly being off the road for a prolonged period.
How often should I get my vehicle serviced?
Every vehicle is different, we advise a minimum of 10,000 km or 1 year, but if you contact us we will be more than happy to advise you on what would be best depending on how often you use the vehicle and the type of engine that it has, petrol/diesel and any other specific requirements.
I'm not sure how to check my engine oil/water or tyre pressure?
Give us a ring, call in and we will do it for you, no costs are charged. Not only that but we will show you how it is done so you know for next time. Sometimes special fluid or oil is required depending on your vehicle, so don't just top up any fluids without making sure the correct type is being used!
I start work early, how can I get my car to you?
In most cases, if you live close by we can pick up the vehicle depending on our workload, we do open from early hours (earlier than advertised) if necessary and we can drop you to work and pick you up if this helps. Customer service comes first.
What if my car is at home broken down or I break down whilst driving?
No problems at all, we have a reliable low-cost towing service which is cheaper than a call-out fee. We will gladly tow your vehicle to the workshop, diagnose the problem at no cost where possible and ring you with a quote on the repair prior to commencing any work.

Do you work on weekends?
We are open on Saturday by appointment. Appointments must be at least a few days in advance so we can make sure the job we are doing for you will be completed on time and that if we need parts we can have everything ready to go,
I am a senior and/or studying. Am I eligible for a discount/concession?
We offer a discount on all repairs to our seniors and students alike. Across the whole range of repairs that we perform, we will definitely look after you with the best possible price and guaranteed best personal service and repair.
What vehicles do you work on?
We work on all makes and models including new and old, Petrol/diesel light vehicles, 4x4 & small to medium trucks. Andrew has a vast experience on all makes and has been working on all makes for over 16 years. One benefit over a dealer trained technician is his exposure to all the vehicle/s systems and requirements. An extensive knowledge is a piece of mind.
Can you service my car while it is under new car warranty?
Yes, dealers will try and have you return to them for fixed price and genuine servicing, however, we are as suitably trained as their technicians, we have the same computer software and we use Valvoline fluids which match or exceed those oils used by the dealer. We guarantee to beat their huge prices and will provide a personal service where you can actually speak with the technician. Your new car warranty will not be void!

Dodgey, don’t go here. These guys used to be my regulars mechanic until they took me for a ride because I’m a female and my rego was due within a short time frame. They gave me an obscene list of things that needed to be fixed 3.5k and told me that they had used a special machine and everything had been documented so it was all recorded with RMS and had to be fixed. I’ve always had my car serviced and looked after it, it had low kms so didn’t make sense to me. I took it for a second consult, with the list of “documented issues” and the other mechanic cost $400 to pass rego and couldn’t find some of the “issues” documented. He asked me who gave me this quote and then told me that this situation made sense and first choice mechanical are known amongst other mechanics to be dodgey. Steer clear. Really upsetting after being a loyal customer and that due to gender I was taken for a ride for a quick buck

I took my car in for a general car service late 2015 as something was playing up with my car. I gave a brief run down of the issues with my car to the mechanic before handing the keys to him.. And straight away without looking at my car he said that it sounded like it was spark plug issue and possibly the coil pack assembly. He very nicely explained to me in FULL detail what those parts in the car were and why he believed that was the issue. I'm not very knowledgeable with cars so I was hoping I wasn't about to be ripped off. (Trust me, that definitely wasn't the case!) I advised that I didn't want any work done on the car at this moment as I didn't have the funds, I only wanted a service. I asked them to call me and tell me what was wrong with my little Barina once they finished looking at it. I was kindly given a wonderful courtesy car which was fantastic to drive. They were so friendly when we did the key swap for me to borrow the car for the day. It was such a smooth transition. During the day I was called as they promised... and guess what... He was spot on about the spark plug and coil pack assembly!! He gave me a break down of costs of each part of the car which needed fixing, and offered for me to come back when I had the money. He was very understandable and respected my decision - unlike most mechanics, they just start doing the work without asking to sting you with more costs! When I came back again in February to get my car fixed, they were still super friendly like they were the first time I went. Very approachable and provided me with excellent customer service. They waved and greeted me by my first name. It made me feel like they cared about me as their customer.
Even when I spoke to the receptionist on the phone days before coming in she also sounded so bubbly and helpful. When I left that day I had the biggest smile on my face and they really made me feel like I can trust them. I highly recommend them!!

I have been using 1st Choice Mechanical Repairs for almost 10 years, I have recommended them numerous times to friend and family and now all vehicle and those in my extended family are serviced here. The staff are friendly, helpful and go above and beyond to assist you in any way.
They work with you to service your vehicle, even picking it up and dropping it back if needed, with an option of a courtesy care they are a true full service mechanic.
Their prices are competitive and after having your care serviced here you will never take it back to a dealer, there are the people that dealers and big chains are afraid off.
