Shin Pain: Medial tibial stress syndrome, tibial periostitis or shin splints is a common injury that affects athletes who engage in running sports or basic activities that require constant weight training. This condition is characterised by pain in the lower part of the leg between the knee and the ankle. MTSS injuries are caused by many overlapping symptoms, correct diagnosis of the cause of pain or discomfort is necessary in order to choose the most appropriate treatment. Orthotic Therapy: Prescription orthotic therapy is a managed podiatric treatment regime that includes specifically made custom inserts for footwear, together with an exercise program the prescription devices are an aid in the treatment or fault. It is not a panacea (solution for all problems) but an important treatment option used expertly at All Podiatry Services. It works by balancing, realigning and allowing the feet and lower limbs to function properly during walking, running and standing.

Gait Analysis: We treat all types of foot related pain. Utilising Gait Assessment to accurately target your source of pain. Video Gait and Foot Pressure points analysis is used to improve walking and running techniques and is becoming more and more important in sport’s therapy. It provides the ability to assess, plan, and treat individuals with conditions affecting their ability to walk. It is also commonly used in sports bio mechanics to help identify efficiently, posture-related or movement-related problems in people with injuries. Ingrown Toe Nails: Ingrown toenails occur when the sides of the toenail grow into the surrounding skin causing redness, swelling and pain. Common causes include ill-fitting shoes and cutting toenails incorrectly. Ingrown toenails are when the sides or corners of the nail grows down and digs into the skin of the toes causing pain, swelling and redness. They usually affect the big toe, which is particularly prone to more pain with the condition, and can occur on one or both sides of the toe.

Can you treat Corns and Calluses?

Corns and calluses generally form when the skin tries to protect an underlying area from injury, pressure or rubbing. They are not usually painful, but can become sore if they grow. Treatment involves trimming, paring or removing the thickened skin, painlessly, or using a scalpel to trim a large corn.

Do you treat Heel Pain?

Heel pain, heel spurs and Plantar Fasciitis can be treated - in most cases - with simple, non-surgical methods as it is mostly a biomechanical problem. Most people experience heel pain with their first steps in the morning, after getting out of bed or after prolonged rest. It can present as a sharp stabbing pain at the bottom or front of the heel bone or as a dull ache. Heel pain usually can subside to some extent throughout the day as the swelling around the area settles.

Regular assessment by a Podiatrist, every 3 months, and at least 6 weeks in the presence of vascular, neurological, biomechanical or dermatological dysfunction or disease is crucial in preventing all types of complications to the feet.
