How do I pay for my visit?

A consultation fee will be charged for your visit and payment can be made by EFTPOS, credit card (Visa, MasterCard & American Express), cheque or cash. Our receptionists can submit your paid account to Medicare electronically to claim your rebate. The rebate will be deposited directly into your bank account usually within 24 hours if you have your bank details registered with Medicare. Department of Veteran Affairs Gold Card holders is fully covered.

What should I bring with me when I come for a scheduled office appointment?

A valid referral from your General Practitioner, Optometrist or Specialist as this is required for you to receive any reimbursement from Medicare for your consultation and any treatment. Your glasses or other visual aids; any test results that may be relevant and a list of your medications.

What should I expect during first visit?

In order for us to perform a thorough and complete examination of your eyes, allow up to 90 minutes for your appointment. A full medical history will be taken. Depending on your eye problem you may have some ophthalmic testing done. Also, as part of a full eye examination, your pupils will be dilated and this will make your vision blurry for approximately two hours. Your doctor will then discuss your treatment options with you.

Do I need a referral to make an appointment?

To claim the Medicare rebate, you need a current referral from your GP or Optometrist (valid for 12 months) or specialist (valid for 3 months). If your treatment is ongoing you can request an indefinite referral from your GP.
