Bowra & O'Dea

Bowra & O'dea organized my Wife's funeral.



As difficult as it was loosing my Spouse. the dishonesty and decpetive practices of dealing with this company still makes me sick today.



Bowra & O'dea liased with my wifes mother for funeral arrangements in Australia.



My wife and I lived in Las Vegas, USA.

it was important to her family in Australia to have her flown back from the US for a service in Australia. they arranged this with Bowra & Odea Midland.



Bowra & Odea ran into "a problem" they did not have permission from myself the next of kin.



in what was already a stressful time I was doing my best to make her family happy. I agreed to let them fly the body back to Australia.



I flew to Australia to meet with my new funeral director and express my concerns.



I asked them why they reffred to me as a problem and expressed, that the cost of moving a body across the world is money I did not have and that any cost incured would have to be settled with my wife's Super, I did not have this on hand.



my representative and mother in law agreed to this and they took my signature to move forward with their arrangements.



I made this mistake in trust of the Bowra & Odea name and reputation.



My only request for the funeral was that they used her married name and I would receive ashes as next of kin. I also completed the slides how.



Bowra & Odea proceeded to cut her married name out of everything.

I pointed this out and minimal was corrected.



after the funeral bowra & odea handed all attendance cards, videos flowers and whatever else you would recieve from using there service to my mother in law.



they did manage to correctly and promptly. email me a bill for 10 thousand this was maybe half the incured costs of this funeral.

they did not include this in the package handed to my mother in law.



instead of being able to mourn my wife I now had to follow up on Bowra & Odea good faith to allow me to wait for the super to make payment. this was overlooked and they expected payment promptly for their services.



the funeral bill took all my wifes super to pay.



further more the super was contested by my mother in law. so I had no date I would be able to pay them.



after a year and half back and fourth with AfCA I finally had my wifes super realesed.

I arranged to make payment to Bowra & Odea and agreed to pay the leftover to my mother in law for "funeral expenses"



Bowra & odea was paid in full, they never corrected names, deleted her obituary. I did not even recieve an apology.



all they said was that "the representative no longer worked as midland manager and that they did the best they could in a difficult situation"

Bowra & O'Dea have done two funerals for our family.

The first was held in Boddington so logistically there was more factors to work around which they did seamlessly making the process so much easier to deal with.
It was over the Xmas period and the arrangers did a great job at that difficult time. It was set in a local bushland cemetery and with their care & support we were very happy with the overall experience.

The second was held in Perth and again the overall experience was one made as easy as possible at this saddest of times. We found from the initial calls, the meetings in our home with the arranger, to the time spent working through the planning, the actual funeral day and then subsequent follow up was excellent service. This company demonstrates it cares for families with empathy, efficiency and professionalism at all times.
