The Cairns Community Legal Centre Inc is a not-for-profit government funded organisation that provides free legal services.
The Cairns Community Legal Centre Inc was established in 1991 and incorporated in January 1993. The Centre is a not-for-profit community organisation that provides legal services and referrals for the benefit of people in the community experiencing disadvantage. The Centre is one of more than 200 community legal centres nationwide.
The General Legal Service offers free legal services across a range of areas of law, such as family law, employment law, criminal law, motor vehicle damage, traffic matters etc. Discrimination & Human Rights Legal Service The Discrimination and Human Rights Legal Service is a free legal service for people who have been treated unfairly or discriminated against. Cairns Mental Health Legal Service On a Treatment Authority? Need help with an Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT) application? Or any other mental health legal problems? The Cairns Mental Health Legal Service can provide assistance.

What if the Centre cannot help me?
Sometimes the Centre will be unable to help. For example we may have a conflict of interest, be fully booked or otherwise unable to assist with your enquiry. If this happens the Centre will do its best to provide you with a referral to another organisation.
What work doesn't the Centre do?
The Centre cannot help with the following area of law 1.Trade marking, intellectual property, copyright 2. Immigration 3. Native title 4. Personal injuries 5. Commercial wor 6. Buying or selling houses. These are just some examples. There may also be other work the Centre does not do or circumstances where it cannot help.
Who can use the Centre's services?
The Centre may assist people who are experiencing disadvantage, have a legal problem that the Centre is able to assist with and live in the geographical area covered by the Centre. The Centre also provides outreach services in Innisfail, Atherton, Mareeba and the Cairns Hospital’s Mental Health Unit.
What does the Centre do?
The Centre provides information and referrals, legal advice and in some circumstances, ongoing casework assistance.
