Providing comprehensive assessments & tailored treatment plans using a neuroscience model to effectively address individual needs.
Derek has been working as a clinical psychologist for over 40 years, starting in Cape Town and moving to Australia in 1986. He specialises in child psychology and has contributed significantly to the field in Western Australia. We run a clinical psychology practice with a focus on children and adults, integrating neuropsychology with family, psychodynamic, and behavioural therapies.
Established in 1983 by Dr. Derek Cohen after garnering extensive experience in Cape Town, South Africa, our private practice has been serving the Perth community in Australia since 1989. Over the years, we've been dedicated to delivering specialised psychological services with a strong emphasis on child psychology. Our commitment led us to relocate our practice to Rossmoyne, Western Australia, in a setting that provides both privacy and tranquillity, catering to the unique needs of our clients.
Our services encompass a broad spectrum of psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions tailored to address the multifaceted needs of both children and adults experiencing emotional and behavioural challenges. At the foundation of our treatment approach lies a rigorous and comprehensive assessment procedure that aids in developing a full differential diagnosis. Recognising that emotional and behavioural difficulties can often be multidimensional and present with symptomologies similar to other conditions.
Our treatment plans are meticulously developed to integrate elements from neuropsychology, family therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and behavioural therapy within a neuroscience framework, aimed at addressing the individualised needs of our clients. This combination of therapies ensures that each treatment plan is both holistic and effective, drawing on the latest advancements in psychological practice and research.
