FAQs

  • What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial Massage Therapists are trained to assess and treat muscles, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue and treat injuries and soreness. They employ a variety of treatments for use in pain management of chronic musculoskeletal conditions, postural conditions, sporting and occupational injuries. Remedial therapists must have a working knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. The goal of remedial massage is to help the body return to normal health & function after injury.

  • What is Sports Massage?

Sports Massage aims to support the specific needs of a client’s sporting activities, whether it is preparation for an event or recovery from competition, Sports Massage will focus on the prevention and treatment of soft tissue injuries, muscle aches & pains from exercise and activity.

  • What is Dry Needling?

Trigger-point dry needling is an invasive procedure where a fine needle (acupuncture needle) is inserted into the skin and muscle. It targets myofascial trigger points which are sensitive or tender spots (often called knots) in skeletal muscle. The needle stimulates the muscle tissue to relax, improves blood flow to the area and stimulates a healing response.

  • What is Cupping?

Myofascial cupping is a soft tissue therapy that involves the application of decompressed cups on the skin, creating a vacuum effect that lifts up underlying tissues such as the fascia ( connective tissue ) and muscles, blood and other fluid, close to the surface of the skin. Myofascial cupping is typically applied on back, shoulder, neck, sacrum, hip, abdomen, legs and arms. The Treatments are painless but may cause minor redness or bruising to the skin which resolves in a few days.

  • What is Cold Laser?

Cold laser therapy is a painless low-intensity laser therapy that stimulates healing while using low levels of light. Different wavelengths and outputs of low-level light are applied directly to a targeted area. The body tissue then absorbs the light. The red and near-infrared light cause a reaction, and the damaged cells respond with a physiological reaction that promotes regeneration. Cold laser therapy can be used to treat a variety of minor injuries, sprains & inflammation.

  • Why should I have regular massage?

The benefits of regular massage include: Improved circulation Help improve joint mobility Relieves muscle tension Helps to manage pain & injuries Helps with overall health & wellbeing Helps manage stress & mental health.
