The word Nunyara means 'restored to health' and comes from the language spoken by the Barngala people, traditional owners.

Nunyara Aboriginal health Service Inc provides a range of quality services and programs, promotes healthy lifestyle choices and works to improve the health outcomes of Aboriginal people who reside in Whyalla. We advocate for dedicated and culturally appropriate service responses for the Whyalla Aboriginal Community from mainstream services.

The Primary Health Care Philosophy is implemented in the provision of services, and in care to individual clients and to the Aboriginal Community. Programs are implemented to build whole of community capacity to maintain and improve health and well being. This also includes supporting training and development of community members to further build capacity in our community.Nunyara delivers evidence-based and best practice comprehensive primary health care to the Aboriginal community and these services include:Acute care GP consultations 5 days a week Health assessments Chronic conditions management Child and maternal health care Immunisations Obstetric antenatal and postnatal care Tackling smoking Grief and loss counselling Allied health services (visiting providers): Optometrist, Dietician, Audiologist, Respiratory Nurse, ENT Surgeon, Endocrinologist, Midwife, Diabetic Educator,Podiatrist.
