I telephoned Fleur's about a week ago to enquire about whether or not they had DPNs sized 2.50 millimetres. The woman who answered my call told me to wait a moment while she checked. When she returned, she advised that they didn't have that particular size but to ring back in about a week because they had recently placed an order for some more double-pointed needles, including that size. I rang back yesterday and was advised that my size 2.50 mm DPNs were now available in the store at $3.25c a set. I gave a little yelp of joy and told the lady that I would be in the store very soon. Yesterday (Thursday 28-5-2015) I made the long bus journey to and from Stirling from my home in Fullarton, on the basis of the information given to me yesterday on the telephone, only to find that the size I wanted was not and never will be available as they are an American sizing and I would have to order them online from America. I explained to the retailer that I had made a special trip out to Stirling on the basis of information given to me yesterday by a representative of her store but she was disbelieving, telling me that neither herself nor her daughter would have said that the size 2.50 mm DPNs were available for purchase from their store. This is absolutely untrue. The retailer, who clearly viewed me as delusional, proffered neither an apology for the store's misinformation nor any expression of regret for my time, trouble or disappointment. Anyone can make a mistake including me, but I didn't like being treated as if my wasted time and trouble were nothing to do with the store. Needless to say, I don't feel like going back there again.
