Constructing Your Vision
- General Info
Phillips Earthmoving Contractors prides ourselves on being a highly diverse and multicultural company.
Phillips Earthmoving Contractors is an Australian family owned and operated company specialising in excavation and earthmoving services. Located at Lot 1200 Brown Street, Tennant Creek, our business has been built on a passion for excellence and currently services the greater Barkly Region and outback Queensland with the capability to deliver major contracts Australia wide. Our company founder, Jim Philips, originally arrived in Tennant Creek on Christmas Day 1989 to inspect a possible job opportunity working at the White Devil Mine. He began his operations in January 1990 with the purchase of an old AACQ International Water Truck which he bought from a local contractor. For the next nine years, Jim worked at three mine sites; White Devil, Warrego and Gecko mines in the Tennant Creek area until they commenced their closure strategies in 1999. Following the closure of the mines, Jim purchased a 30T excavator and began providing earthmoving services across the Territory. He was approached by the local Power and Water authorities to excavate the main sewerage line crossing Peko Road in Tennant Creek. As a part of this job he procured a tip truck and a loader, in addition to a CAT 140G Grader shortly afterwards. From our humble origins, Phillips Earthmoving Contractors has continued to grow over the years and today employs 45 staff and operates over 150 in combined heavy equipment, trucks and vehicles. Our services include civil construction, bulk haulage, mine contracting and earthmoving plant hire. We have worked with a number of major client organisations including McConnell Dowell, Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics NT, Statoil and Mine Makers.
