Can I drive if I get dilating eyedrops?

No patient is safe to drive with their pupils dilated. Please make sure you bring a driver.


Do I need a referral for an eye exam?

No referral is required for an eye examination with our Optometrists.


How can I resolve progressive (graduated) lens problems?

Progressive or Graduated lenses require very precise and accurate measurements and if not fitted correctly can cause vision discomfort. If you require help with progressive(graduated) lenses we recommend you visit our store for a solution.


Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?

We advise all patients to bring a list of medications and current glasses. Please bring your concession card if you want to claim government spectacles (MASS).


How often should I have an eye examination if I am a diabetic?

We strongly recommend an eye examination every 12 months if you are a diabetic patient or as specified by your Optometrist.


Are you a local business?

Yes Darling Downs Optometrists is a locally owned and operated business previously known as Optical Warehouse.


Do my glasses have a warranty?

Yes, all Darling Downs frames carries a 1-year manufacturer warranty (Some frames carry a 2-year warranty). All lenses carry a one-year warranty which also includes transition lenses and anti-reflective coatings.


Is it possible to have Progressive (Graduated) lenses in prescription sunglasses?

Yes, any lens type can be made into sunglasses and most suppliers offer two options polarised and non-polarised. Progressive, Bifocal and single vision lenses can be made in sunglass options.


Is my appointment bulk-billed to Medicare?

Yes, as a family friendly practice we continue to bulk bill all our patients allowing our patients to have an eye examination as often as required without any gap payment. For more information on eye health examinations please contact us on 07 4638 8828


Can I claim directly to my private health fund for glasses or contact lenses?

Yes, we have HICAPS terminals allowing us to do direct claims from any health funds. You then can just pay the gap rather than the full amount. Be aware that the unused portion of your health fund’s optical benefit is lost if you do not use it prior to year-end.
