In Victoria, all plumbing work with a value of $500 or more, most gasfitting work and any work on below ground sanitary drains requires a compliance certificate to be provided to the person for whom the work was done. The $500 value includes all labour, parts and appliances regardless of who they were purchased by.Only a licenced plumber may issue a compliance certificate. What work can a licensed plumber undertake?
Licensed plumbers may undertake work in any class of plumbing for which they are licensed, may supervise other plumbers (registered or licensed) or plumbing apprentices carrying that class of plumbing work. They may also issue compliance certificates for that class of work. Plumbing work is defined by six classes - water supply, gasfitting, sanitary, roofing (stormwater), draining or mechanical services (heating, cooling and ventilation of buildings).

The short answer to this question is NO for installation work & YES for some maintenance work, listed below: 1.replace a shower head or rose, a tap washer or jumper valve 2.replace a domestic water filter cartridge 3.replace a washer in a toilet cistern inlet or outlet valve 4.install, repair or maintain garden irrigation system 5.clean or repair the grate to a drainage gully trap 6.replace a cap on inspection opening to a drain All other work must be carried out by a licensed plumber.
What Causes Clogged Drains?
There are a number of common issues that create a need for drain cleaning. Soap all by itself is not a problem, but combine that with hair and there can be an issue. Useless roof plumber. Takes no accountability for his shonky work. I Bought a house that he did a new colorbond roof barely 4 years ago and has roof leaks and defects - he refuses to rectify the leaking roof that he’s left. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Roof plumbers like this is what’s wrong with the industry.
