Royal Park is a very short, very easy public course on land that is flat. If you slice your shot on the ninth, please dont climb the fence to retrieve your ball - that is the Melbourne Zoo and you will be climbing into the panther enclosure. After a lot of rain it stays dry because it is situated on gentle slopes so it drains ok. Some things I don't like about it are that there are lots of slow beginners, long distance to some tees and general lack of maintenance of the course. I swear that they sometimes cut the holes bigger to speed up play. If you are considering this course you might also consider Albert Park, Burnley, Northcote.

Royal Park Golf Course is a great little 9-hole course in what is almost the heart of the city. It provides an oasis of sorts, because as you play you barely realise youre actually surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Melbourne. And being located next to Melbourne Zoo only adds to the atmosphere when you hear an elephant call out from time to time!
This course offers a fairly good mix, with a combination of long and short holes, and also a pretty hill stretch. Not overly challenging, but an enjoyable inner city course all the same. Particularly good for beginners/those looking for a relaxed hit.
