The Astor Theatre

Icon of Melbourne. The Astor is an old art deo theatre and its like stepping back into the 1930s. Every night they show different films so its not at all like the big movie theatres. Your ticket price gets you two movies for the evening. They are known for screening the old favourites as well as new movies.

A Melbourne cinema icon - a classic art deco building in original design and recently saved by a kind multi-million dollar donation from a Melbourne cinema lover. Saw "Les Enfants du Paradis" here a few month ago and the was an unforgettable experience. To see old movies in an old movie theatre is magic. Regrettably the famous Astor theatre cat died a few weeks ago but the Astor magic lives on. Careful where you park as the inspectors are red hot.
